This was my first exposure to a Norse language, though I did know it was Germanic in nature. The phonetics at first daunted me, but then I realized how simple the morphology was and I was shocked. This book made me fall in love with modern Norse languages. It showed the grammar that was probably one of the simplest I've yet to see.

Although I like Norwegian a bit better now, Swedish is very similar and I was amazed by how fun it's grammar was. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to study Swedish.
