Anyone interested in Poland? Ktoś zainteresowany Polską?Submitted by Ender on Thu, 26/04/2007 - 20:18.
I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I would love to introduce you to polish language and culture. I will try to write in both polish and english, but please forgive me my mistakes :). If anyone is interested please write here, and I will try to write regularly about Poland and it's culture. Greetings from Poland! Pozdrowienia z Polski! Maciek Fri, 27/04/2007 - 08:40
Polish culture
Hi. I'm still too busy with the languages I'm currently learning but some basics in Polish would be great. I'd be most interested in learning about Polish culture.
I have known a few Polish guys from my Ju-juitsu classes and they all seem like very good fighters but that's all I really know.
Where shall we start? How about teaching us a little about Polish drinking culture, always a fun topic?

well, okay, that's true...
well, okay, that's true... BUT there are still some Poles who are teetotallers - like me ;p
btw some of the things Poles do drink are really yucky - like vodka or even worse stuff... isn't that weird? o.O xD okay, the topic isn't my favourite so I'll just shut up ;p Sun, 29/04/2007 - 21:52

Polish Authors
It depends on what you like. From science-fiction and fantasy I can recommend you Stanisław Lem ( www.lem.pl <also english translation) and Andrzej Sapkowski ( his book "Ostatnie Życzenie" has just been translated, english title is "The Last Wish" ). If you like more classical literature try: Adam Mickiewicz, Wisława Szymborska, Stefan Żeromski, Juliusz Słowacki, and many more... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_literature here you can read more about it. Have fun :) Thu, 24/05/2007 - 04:28

Polish - Russian language similarities
I have to say that I have never learned russian language, but as far as I know it, those two language are similar at least in some basic rules. They belong to the same family of languages so the cases and some grammar rules are similar, i think. Also some basic words sounds similar for example the word "hand" and numbers. From my experience, when I was in Russia for a few days the shopping was not a problem to me althought i did not know much russian language. so that is my point of view...but maby others have different opinion (?)
