"Para" and "por"Submitted by Brompton on Thu, 10/05/2007 - 16:02.
Has anyone any easily remembered and basic rules for remembering how to use the above two words. Generally I use "Para" when I want to say "in order to" and "por" when I want to say "for" e.g. Voy a Birmingham sabados para ver mi amigo. He comprado un regalo por el compleano de mi hijo. however I think that "por" has many, many uses and these I would like to know more about.
