Using Skype for Language Practice

Skype allows you to speak over the internet to anyone anywhere for free! Not got Skype yet? Download it here and get started learning a language with Huitalk.

For more information about Skype have a look at their website here (or here for info in other languages).

If you are a very busy person don’t worry, simply log in and see who’s on-line. Click on their name and start an instant conversation. Remember to help them as much as they help you.

If you have the time why not e-mail a user and arrange a time to be on-line, perhaps make it a regular time each week, and have a chat or follow one of our lesson plans each week and develop your vocabulary in different areas.

If you are only just starting to use Skype you will need a headset. You can also buy a camera and see the person you are talking to. It can be very useful to see the person you are talking to if you are a beginner. Seeing the person can help you understand through body language facial expressions.
